Due Diligence & Research
Artive’s team of experts is driven by a mission to create safe, accessible, and affordable access to due diligence services before any art transaction, or post-loss needs. This is why registering an item to Artive’s Database is free. The Artive Report provides uniquely catered reports for individuals or organizations who seek research support regarding the title or provenance of object(s).
Our goal is to provide technological solutions that everybody can use, always in the spirit of helping to protect and preserve cultural property.
HOW WE WORK
Artive provides a comprehensive, reliable, and accessible way to conduct due diligence for clients who buy, sell, loan, insure, collect, store, and move art. Artive is distinguished from other due diligence providers because of our charitable approach to protecting cultural heritage. We recognize the necessity of safe business practices and offer our services and growing community as a solution.
As a non-profit we exist to educate the public on the necessity of due diligence research, eliminating the perception that it is an elitist activity. These beliefs inform our approach to research. We value collaboration and community and are making this possible by providing technological solutions that everybody can use. Through the Artive Report and Object Registration services, we offer our community the opportunity to seek due diligence support and register any uniquely identifiable work of art or cultural property at-risk, associated with an active claim, or belonging to a collection to the Artive Database.
The Artive Database is used as a research platform for many audiences such as insurance companies, private collectors, law enforcement agencies, governments, and others to combat illicit activities by promoting due diligence. The database is sourced by any individual who creates an account and object registration as well as theft alerts from around the world, partnerships with insurance companies and law enforcement agencies, and public news.
An Artive Report is the product of our team’s collaborative approach to research. We cater each report to the object at hand, searching against the Artive Database as well as relevant external databases in order to provide a thorough report of the object’s provenance, title, etc. With your help, Artive seeks to raise the standard of how art and cultural objects are bought, sold, traded, collected, insured, and transported so that fewer objects are engaged in unlawful or unsafe transactions.
THE ARTIVE REPORT
Due diligence in the art market is a necessary part of any transaction, loan, or acquisition. We work with insurance companies, private collectors, law enforcement agencies, governments, financial and cultural institutions to source extensive loss records and data.
We use this information to identify any issue, claim or dispute that could impact the title or value of a work of art, antique, or cultural object. This information is managed on Artive’s Database: the world’s most technologically advanced database featuring integrated image recognition functionality, SSL protection, and over 500 fields of searchable data.
Due diligence in the art market is a necessary part of any transaction
Artive seeks to raise the standard of how art and cultural objects are bought, sold, traded, collected, insured, and transported so that fewer objects are engaged in unlawful or unsafe transactions.
The Artive Report serves as a detailed, unique, and in-depth record of the due diligence checks performed against Artive’s Database as well as other relevant resources, such as Law Enforcement databases. We value the necessity of a collaborative research approach and therefore conduct additional research against external specialist databases when necessary in order to create thorough reports.
Object Registrations
As the most technologically advanced of its kind, our database continues to be our greatest resource for research. However, to sustain its success, growth, community, and collaboration are essential. That is why Artive invites you to register any uniquely identifiable item, work of art, collectible or cultural property such as:
Antiquities
Jewelry and watches
Ceramics
Furniture
Collectibles
Books and Manuscripts
Music Instruments
We believe that it is important to offer victims of crime the best possible chance of locating and recovering their property. We believe it is necessary that collectors have an easy way to access collection management resources for their collection. We believe that remote communities whose cultural properties are at risk need access to technology that will allow them to protect their treasured objects. That is why registering any item with Artive is free.
